The Aviation leader in Test Equipment releases new firmware update technology for the successful DPS1000 & 1811NG.
Miami, Florida - 7 March, 2017 - Barfield, the leading manufacturer of Ground Support Test Equipment, announced today the worldwide release of its new groundbreaking firmware upgrade technology of the DPS1000 using its current tablet application. The new technology allows for a quick upgrade of the DPS1000 firmware in a seamless process utilizing the mobile app developed for Android and iOS.
"The single largest logistics challenge to support a product that would continually improve is maintaining software compatibility. Our solution was to imbed the new DPS1000 firmware upgrade into the app" said Lew Wingate, Vice President, Ground Support Test Equipment & Distribution. "The development of the DPS1000 and its initial application began a new era for Barfield Ground Support Test Equipment. From the beginning our engineering and sales departments could foresee many new and exciting upgrades to both products in the future."
The tablet application acts strictly as a remote that once wirelessly connects to the DPS1000, it automatically detecting its firmware version. If the Test Set version is older than the one that the app supports, it triggers an upgrade of the test set firmware to match the app's latest version.
As Barfield's newest fully automated, user-friendly RVSM air data test set, the DPS1000 performs altimeter and static systems tests and inspections on a wide range of aircraft. Whether it be testing pumps, valves or static/altitude transducers, the critical components on the DPS1000 have an established history of proven flight line accuracy.
Like its sister product the DPS1000, the 1811NG was recently introduced to directly support General Aviation, Helicopter, UAV, Non-RVSM Regional and corporate aircraft. It is a fully automated pitot static tester that can be operated through Barfield's new state-of-the-art wireless tablet communication capability, allowing display and control using Wi-Fi technology.
The DPS1000 and the 1811NG both have additional features that can be used in other aircraft maintenance areas including Cabin Pressure and Inlet Barrier Filter (IBF) test mode. The DPS1000 and the 1811NG can be fully operated either from their display screen or from the tablet app.
Innovation remains at the core of Barfield's forward looking development team that is continuously striving to improve the customer experience.
