04/05/2011 - Virgin Atlantic Chooses AFI KLM E&M for A330 Component Support

Virgin Atlantic contracts with AFI KLM E&M for 12 year A330 component support.

Twelve-year contract
Virgin Atlantic has contracted with AFI KLM E&M for component support on its new A330 fleet, extending the long-standing relationship between the two partners. The first aircraft was delivered in February 2011 with the last of the ten new aircraft being handed over in late 2012. The deal involves component repair, pool access and a main base kit at London Heathrow.

Large-scale efforts by AFI KLM E&M
Being the main maintenance service provider for the Virgin Atlantic fleet, AFI KLM E&M benefited from the UK carrier's satisfaction with pre-existing engine, components and airframe structure maintenance  for Virgin's Boeing 747-400 and A340 fleet. To meet the new demands, AFI KLM E&M demonstrated its ability to adapt with a tailor-made offering in terms of cost, quality, on-time performance and logistic solutions.

Satisfied customer
"We decided to continue working with AFI KLM E&M as we have been very satisfied with the expertise and service quality shown when maintaining components for our A340 fleet," said Phil Maher, Virgin Atlantic Director of Engineering. Fabrice Defrance, AFI KLM E&M Senior Vice President Commercial, observed: "This agreement is a source of great satisfaction for us, further strengthening our position in the UK market. We are very appreciative of this latest expression of trust from Virgin Atlantic. Our long-standing partner knows it can count on our Group's service excellence."
