Contract covers component repairs on NATO AWACS aircraft.
Paris, Amstelveen, 20 April 2012 - IAMCO (International Aerospace Management Company), the Prime Contractor responsible for maintaining NATO's fleet of AWACS aircraft, has renewed its component repair contract with AFI KLM E&M. The long term contract covers repairs, maintenance and special testing of the unique systems equipping the AWACS fleet.
Rewarded for particular, special expertise
Repair of the components requires mechanics with particular expertise, as there are few 707s left in operation today. "AFI KLM E&M has been maintaining these specific components for many years. Its experience is an asset for NATO," said Gaetano Ruscito, Manager of the IAMCO Components Subcontract Management Branch. In addition, in June 2011, NATO selected KLM E&M "Best source of repair", demonstrating the quality and reliability of the MRO's service provision.
Ton Dortmans, KLM E&M Executive VP, was delighted at the contract renewal: "We are very happy to contribute our expertise on these components. We will continue to offer IAMCO our top-quality services and as usual will demonstrate our adaptability and responsiveness in meeting its requirements."
