787 Operators Community

On Wednesday 9 December the 787 Operators Community webinar took place.

Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance shares a dual vision of being a major Airline Group operating the 787 and being a leader in aviation maintenance with a strong position on new generation aircraft. Within the AFI KLM E&M 787 Community, more than 20 airlines cooperate worldwide by sharing operational experiences and learnings. In this period of pandemic crisis, more than ever, operators need to meet and discuss operational issues. This is the aim of the 787 Operators Community, organized by the AFI KLM E&M teams since 2016. The community organizes an annual conference (Operator Experience Conference), a quarterly webinar and has an online platform to share knowledge.

This year, the closure of several borders and the associated travel restrictions meant that the now traditional annual event, organized in turn by community members and in 2020 planned for Sidney at Qantas headquarters, had to be postponed. However, digital has temporarily taken over and the bond that was built over the last few years continues to be strong.

“Despite of the impact of Covid 19 on aviation, most airlines continued flying the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The most airlines chose not to park this aircraft since it is fuel efficient. It is always with pleasure to meet our worldwide 787 team, colleagues, partners and friends. We are 21 airlines but one community acting with One Voice. The coming period the 787 fleets will have a tremendous importance in the transportation of the vaccines. Our focus as a community will be to ensure Cargo system reliability during operations.”

Sam Wartan

787 Fleet Chief - KLM

What made this December’s edition of the 787 Operator Community extra special is that we were able to welcome Air Premia and Bamboo Airways who recently joined the community after choosing AFI KLM E&M for their 787 component support.

“We highly expect AFI KLM E&M's close support based on its expertise in the operational issues faced by airlines. Being backed up by an airline-MRO which also operates the 787 fleet, we strongly believe, they would offer the best guarantee of a smooth operation and sharing of the technical knowledge as well.”

T.J. Choi

Director E&M of Air Premia

“I am very pleased with this significant cooperation and feel confident that AFI KLM E&M would support our 787 operations with superb services of outstanding quality as recognized by many leading aviation industry players.”
