Barfield: AFI KLM E&M’s forward operating base in the Americas

Barfield:

AFI KLM E&M’s forward operating base in the Americas

For almost 80 years, Barfield has been deploying and showcasing the science of aeronautic maintenance all across the American continent from its bases in the US. While component repair remains its core business, over the years the company has added a great many strings to its MRO bow... Barfield is among the most long-established aviation repair stations in the United States, and as such is able to capitalise on several decades of experience serving airlines in the Americas. With its platforms in Atlanta, Louisville, Phoenix and its main base in Miami, the company is perfectly positioned to support operators from USA and Canada to Argentina and Chile to the Caribbeans.

Launching into the drone market

Since its creation in 1945, Barfield has had the opportunity to vastly enrich the range of services – and value – it offers its customers. Component support services constitute its largest area of activity; in this market, the company boasts positioning and expertise that is not only multi-product (Airbus, Boeing, ATR, Bombardier and Embraer fleets), but also multi-technology – ranging from avionics to hydraulics to pilot seats. But the group’s savoir-faire also extends to two other historical segments: the manufacture, repair and distribution of Ground Support Test Equipment (GTSE), and the distribution of other equipment designed by OEMs partners.

With almost 80 years of experience, Barfield is used to evolving to meet market trends and requirements, and has now added drone services to its catalogue of solutions.

“We’re positioning this new activity to complement and align with our expertise in the field of distribution. We’ll distribute products from French manufacturers on US soil, focusing in particular on aircraft inspection and data/surveillance segments. We’ll also support our clients in their use of drones, providing repair and training services.”

An adaptive and competitive package

After two years that were dominated by the health crisis, this launch is a sign of the optimism in evidence at Barfield. North American airlines are gradually returning to operational levels equivalent to 2019 and more than ever require support solutions that are localized, effective and accessible – all of which are attributes carried in Barfield’s DNA. More than ever, the airline-MRO approach and its “Repair rather than replace” mantra allow us to develop profitable alternatives to OEM services. As a member of the global AFI KLM E&M network, Barfield benefits from the group’s new repair solutions and capabilities in order to meet its customers’ precise needs, offering them support services that combine superior technical quality with economic competitiveness.
